DINING
Litchfield County, Connecticut, is graced with wonderful restaurants catering to the most discriminating palettes. Below are some of our favorite restaurants:
10-15 minute drive from Daffodil Hill:
Town of Kent – sweet little town with plenty of formal and informal dining options.
Fife & Drum (860) 927-3509
Old style New England restaurant full of charm. Good wine list and nice menu.
Bull’s Bridge Inn (860) 927-1000
On same road as Daffodil Hill. Convenient location. Old fashioned options.
Moosilauke (860) 927-4145
Haven’t eaten here yet but it’s in downtown Kent and looks romantic.
Belgique Patisserie (860) 927-3681
For breakfast and coffees. Fabulous patisserie similar to what you’d find in the streets of Europe.
Town of Washington – where everyone wants to be.
Mayflower Inn (860) 868-9466

We enjoy dining in the Bar area as the dining room is too formal for everyday meals. Great wines and wonderful atmosphere – this is also a Relais & Chateaux hotel. Save room for dessert with real whipped cream. New spa menu looks interesting.
Marty’s Coffee (860) 868-1700
New coffee and sandwich shop desperately needed for the town. The old fashioned, outdated town staple, the Pantry, just doesn’t cut it anymore. Marty’s has friendly staff, wonderful lunch and snack options, and free internet access – what more do you need?
G.W. Tavern (860) 868-6633
Decent place for food and there’s generally live bands on the weekends. A fun spot to hang out and enjoy the local atmosphere.
Town of New Milford – several dining options in town, which also has a movie theatre.

Adrienne (860) 354-6001

Great chef continually changing things up. Summer al fresco dining rocks!
Forsythia (860) 355-3266
Owned by Thomas Moran, formerly of the Mayflower Inn. Less expensive option than his namesake restaurant up the street. Good menu choices, spotty service.
59 Bank (860) 350-5995

Good place for the kids. Music throughout week – check schedule.
Elizabeth’s (860) 354-4266
Another in-town dining option. Haven’t been in awhile so can’t accurately assess the place.
Town of New Preston – sweetest little town with antiques stores and Lake Waramaug.
The Birches Inn (860) 868-1735
Lovely lake views.
The Boulders Inn (860) 868-0541
On the lake with formal dining.
Hopkins Inn (860) 868-7295

Great for lunch or for early dinner to watch the sunset. There’s also a vineyard here, so a great place to spend some time.
Oliva (860) 868-1787
Fabulous in every way! Romantic, casual, charming, creative, inventive restaurant. A gem!
Doc’s (860) 868-9415

Across the street from the lake - make reservations as it’s small. Great little Italian restaurant. Cash only. Checks o.k.
30 minute drive from Daffodil Hill
Town of Woodbury – great place for a day trip of antiquing and fine dining.
Carole Peck’s (203) 266-4663

One of the best restaurants in Connecticut! Nicole Kidman and her new hubby ate here the entire weekend they visited friends in the area. Great vegetarian options.
John’s Café (203) 263-0188

Across from Carole Peck’s. Lots of people like it - the pizza is pretty good.
The Charcoal Chef (203) 263-2538
Funny, little old fashioned place. Great for charcoaled items or for big, big breakfasts. A complete throw-back to the old days.
Dottie’s Diner (203) 263-2516
Donuts to die for! Recently renovated diner to look like a 50’s joint, which is totally sweet and retro.
Town of Litchfield – the quintessential Litchfield County town.
West Street Grill (860) 567-3885
We’ve never been, but people love this place!
Bohemian Pizza (860) 567-3980
Funky, little pizza place on the road to Litchfield. Local bands play every so often, so check schedule.
Wood’s Pit BBQ & Mexican Café (860) 567-9869
Next to the Bantam Theatre, so a great place to grab a bite before seeing a great indie movie.
